conservative - a person who prefers maintain the status quo, someone opposed to unwise innovation

 

eclectic - selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles

 

graft - the acquisition of gain (as money) in dishonest or questionable ways; also : illegal or unfair gain

 

ideology - a systematic body of concepts or beliefs, especially about human culture or politics

 

interest group - an organized group of people working to get their particular viewpoint or desires reflected in law or government practice

 

liberal - a person who tends to favor the interests of social freedom, economic equality, and positive changes in the status quo

 

moderate - a person who chooses to compromise between liberal and conservative views, a person who avoids taking extreme positions

 

quid pro quo - something given or received for something else; also : a deal arranging an exchange

 

propaganda - the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person

 

radical - tending or disposed to make extreme changes in existing views, habits, conditions, or institutions

 

reactionary - ultraconservative in politics, desiring to turn the clock back to some previous better time

 

status quo - the existing state of affairs, how things are at present
