The basic idea of your project is that you are an advertising agent trying to convince investors to put money into developing the invention you have been assigned. Imagine that the first key inventions of the industry to which you are assigned have just been made. You have been hired by the inventor (or inventors) to get rich people to invest their money in developing the inventions. For example, if your invention is the light bulb, you need to explain to investors who the inventor is who needs their money, the uses of the light bulb, and the basics of how a light bulb would be made. You aren't trying to sell the product, you are trying to raise money to create a company that will build and sell your product. 

Necessary elements:

15 points - Due Monday 4/21 - MAY NOT BE TURNED IN LATE!!! - A works cited page.  You must give complete citations of at least 5 of the materials you will use for your project.  See my web site for examples of how to do a works cited page. (http://www.fashionzombie.net/2_small_subs/how_to.htm) Your sources must include at least three web sites and two books. You may use only one encyclopedia. I will check the web links to ensure that they are accurate.

40 points - Due Wednesday 4/23 (by 2:20) - A 250 to 500 word single-spaced report on your invention.  This should be a detailed paper that informs potential investors who the inventor is, the workings of the invention, and the possible uses of the invention to which you have been assigned.  This report should include two images. The date of the paper should be dated one year following the actual date of the invention.

30 points - Due Thursday 4/24 (by 2:20) - MAY NOT BE TURNED IN LATE!!! - A poster selling your invention to investors.  Your poster should include the basic information about what your invention is, how it works, and the effects of your product.  Be sure to emphasize how your invention will make money.  What markets and interests will your product serve?  This poster should be simple and bulleted.  It may have no more than 150 words on it. Detail should be in the prospectus. You may NOT print out text and affix it to the poster. At least three images on the board must be hand-drawn.  Posters should be able to be read from a distance of 10 feet.

20 points - Due Friday 4/25 (by 2:20) - A 30-60 second recorded "radio" commercial (even if your invention came before the radio!). Your commercial should summarize the basic information of your report.  I must receive a full-sized cassette tape, WAV file, or MP3 of your commercial.  You must find a way to record on your own.  The more professional the commercial, the more points you will receive.  Be exciting. I will play these in class.
