You are to choose a country once colonized by Europeans or Japanese and write a research paper on that topic. Clear your research choice with me before you begin.
The purpose of this assignment is to discover how specific events or persons shaped the course of national independence in the period after WWII. Answer in what manner, why, and when the nation you are studying became independent. What was the outcome of that independence?
This is a research paper, which means that you are to describe what happened in your own words. You are not making an argument or stating your opinion. Obviously your opinion will leak into the paper in terms of whether or not the effects of the event or the person were good or not. However, this should be a "just the facts" paper explaining what happened. If you plagiarize material, you will receive zero credit and a referral to the Principal.
This assignment may not be turned in late for any
reason. If you believe that you are
going to be absent on Tuesday, turn in the paper early. Otherwise, get your paper to me by 2:15 on Tuesday
June 16th!
Necessary elements:
Up to 30 points - A 250 to 500 word double-spaced report on the topic you have chosen. You should cite specific pieces of evidence as you present them. Use either parenthetical notation, footnotes, or endnotes.
