Welcome parents and guardians,

welcome to my class website.  I assume if you are reading this, that one of your children is a student of mine.  Please take some time and hunt around this site to see what your child is doing.  This site gives you access to a number of resources for following your student's progress in my class.

By looking at the "grades" section, you can find a link to the Seattle Public Schools' "Source" page. You'll also find general information about how I do grading.

In the "how to..." part of the site, you can find much of the skills-related information that expect my students to master over the course of a semester.

Many of you will want to know what your student is doing in class.  If you go through the class-specific part of the site, for example "world history," you can get a very detailed look at what my lessons are for a given day, what readings I hand out, and what day things are scheduled for.  I won't promise that I always stick exactly to the days I plan, and occasionally I depart from plans when it seems useful, but generally speaking you can count on the plans, readings, vocabulary lists, and the like that I post here.

If you are curious about my credentials, why I do certain things, what the social studies department is doing, and the like, check out the "framework" section of this site.

Finally, if you would like to contact me, just use the "email" button.  If it opens an email client you don't like, just grab the email address from the "to:" field and copy it down.  By the way, if you want to call me, your child should have my phone number.  If not, I'm in the book.

Thanks for visiting my site and entrusting your child's brain to my ministrations, James Couture.
